Report from 2009 (10th Anniverysary Show)

Doesn't time fly this was our 10 th year, Thursday and Friday - we had wonderful weather to set out the show
and get everything ready and there was a excellent turn out of members to help - thank you everyone

The work was split with some members marking/measuring out the 162 camping spots others measuring
the 6 rings, and then there was the setting out of the equipment and putting up the score tents
I think it was the score tents that posed the biggest challenge with quite a large team, lots of head scratching and lots and lots of
laughs before they were finally in place ……
there are also a couple of video clips available with running commentary with the said erections of score tents!!!!!!!

Once again thank you to all members, members' family and friends as well as everyone else who lent a hand during the weekend

The first competitors arrived at the venue around 1.30pm, and a steady flow continued until about 9.30pm
On Friday night a little light rain started about 8pm, unfortunaly it didn't stop until Saturday night and didn't stay
light but the North Derbyshire team didn't let this dishearten them and the show got off to a good start - with everyone getting
very wet and going through quite a few waterproof coats!

Lunchtime, a lovely lunch for the judges and members at the local pub ‘The Shoulder of Mutton' then it was
back out in the rain

As this was our 10 th birthday anniversary and our trophy and rosettes reflected that! They where special and impressive

Our cake!

North Derbyshire member Sue Cook and her mum made the most emourous 10 th birthday cake that was
iced with some of our very own dogs made in icing it was a real melt in the mouth - wonderful!

After all the team members had carried out the preparation for the next day we all got ready for our birthday
bash in the club house. Everyone brought some food, so we had a real selection of goodies and we were
all very spoilt. Terry's curries didn't last long at all! The club provided the drinks a relaxing fun fill night was had by all

SUNDAY

The ground had recovered and dried out fantastically well after Saturday's rain but it was short lived - the rain,
oh the rain, started again about 9.30 and as the day went on it got heavier and heavier, what had happened
- we are usually so lucky with the weather - always sunny and warm for our show but not this year derrrrrr

Lunch was postponed to see if we could finish the classes but by 1.30 the decision was made to abandon show - what a shame,
the safety of the dogs and competitors had to be paramount, and the venues surface had to be considered

The bulk of the competitors managed to get off the site safety and only a couple needed a helping hand. At
3pm, after the show had been closed and packed away, the show team went to the pub for some lunch -
we all looked like drowned rats!

Then it was back to our caravans, check the venue over and go home ready to plan for next year's event!

Although the weather was hideous and the rain fell relentless all weekend a good time was had by all and
North Derbyshire 's fantastic team rose to the occasion

Thank you to all of the North Derbyshire team for all your hard works even those behind the scenes and also
to all the people that came, competed and enjoyed

See you all next year
